A proud black conservative
Do you find me scary?
If you were a Democrat, you would – because I’m a proud black conservative who absolutely destroys all of their preconceived notions about who would support the Tea Party… and who the Tea Party would support. They simply can’t imagine that a man, with my profile, won’t buy into their leftist agenda.
Let me give you all of the reasons why they will claim you won’t support me:
- I’m a legal immigrant to the United States.
- Until 2009, I wasn’t a conservative activist.
- And, yes, I’m black.
What a small world they live in! Show the Left that they are wrong – and donate today to send a proud black, immigrant conservative to Washington, DC.
What scares them most? I’m a believer in the Constitution of this great nation, and the principles of our Founders. I believe in the American Dream because I’ve lived it. It’s my life story.
I came to America from the Bahamas, for a college education in 1989 on an F-1 visa, to study Chemistry and Biology at the University of Miami. There I met the love of my life, Sheryl, and I’m happy to say that we’ve been married for 17 wonderful years.
After ten years of hard work, waiting in line, following the rules, and paying my taxes, I took my oath of citizenship in 1999. It was the proudest day of my life.
In 2004, Sheryl and I started a small business together, and the challenges of entrepreneurship led me to get increasingly involved in my community, starting with the Tequesta Oaks Home Owners Association, then the Village of Tequesta’s Council, and finally as Vice-Mayor of Tequesta.
When the economy was faltering in 2009, along with many other Americans, I took a long hard look at where our country was headed, and realized that we were on a disastrous path: too much debt, too much spending, and so little to show for it. I started getting involved in local Tea Party and Republican events. Like so many of you, I didn’t see myself as someone who would end up getting involved in politics. But the Democrats and the Establishment Republicans were spending too much, andrefused to listen to “We The People.”
At a certain point, when you are watching wrong after wrong policy move being committed, by an out-of-control Administration like Barack Obama’s, you have a duty as a citizen to step up and fight back.
Now I’m ready to take my commitment to my country to the next level. I’m running for Congress in Florida’s 18th District, but I need your help. My opponent brags he was the man who destroyed Allen West. He’s one of Nancy Pelosi’s most loyal supporters…and he’s a cheerleader for Obamacare.
I’m not a career politician, so I don’t have a long list of rich friends and well-connected donors. I just have to rely on fellow conservative travelers, who agree with me that we need to rein in an out-of-control Federal Government…and the most important step is to send strong, Constitutional conservatives to Washington. Can I rely on you?
We need to show America that fighting back against a government that has overstepped it’s bounds, has nothing to do with the color of your skin or where you were born – it’s just common sense. But our message isn’t getting through to so many communities that desperately need to hear it.
Why? The Left knows that if their stranglehold can be broken on minority and immigrant voters, they are done for. They fear Senator Tim Scott. They fear Governors Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley, because people like us shatter their stereotypes. And they spent millions in special-interest attack ads to destroy Allen West.
As a member of both minority and immigrant communities, I can testify that our values are the same: faith, family, and the hope of a better life for our children, grandchildren and beyond. We just need the right messenger to bridge the divide, and show the common ground. I’m ready to serve as that messenger.
I am under no illusions: I know this is painting a target on my back. If there’s one thing the Left can’t stand, it’s a black conservative. I’ve seen how liberal racism has been tried and FAILED, against black conservative leaders like Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, Allen West, and Dr. Ben Carson. These men inspire me every day, no matter how much mud the Democrats and their allies throw at me. And you know what? I’m ready for it. I’ve got the fight, the strength and the fortitude to take this battle right to the Democrats, and to teach them a lesson they won’t forget.
We need more witnesses in Washington that can be living proof that our movement is built on proven principles, and is not just about old, rich, white men. I am ready to be that witness. Will you help me take that message to Washington? I’m ready to stand up to the reckless spending culture, that infects both parties in Washington, and to get this country on the right track again.
Not only that, I’m ready to take on the immigration fight. As a legal immigrant who followed the rules, paid my taxes, and waited in line the ten years I needed to, in order to become a proud American citizen, I am living proof that there already is a pathway to citizenship for immigrants.
You can’t effectively name-call a legal immigrant, “anti-immigrant.” I will unabashedly argue to secure our borders first, and implement an immigration system that does not ignore justice in the name of compassion. And because I am living proof that of the American Dream, they won’t be able to silence me with nasty, ad-hominem arguments.
I’ll fight amnesty, out-of-control spending, and Obamacare, and I will utterly cancel out every dismissive insult that has ever been leveled at the Tea Party with the simple truth of my life story. The Left will be shaking in their boots at the thought of facing down a Congressman like me. Will you donate just $25, $50, $100, or more today to make sure that this campaign goes all the way to Washington?
Thank you so much for your time, and I hope that you’ll stand with me today.
